Meanings shift and change with my work, but...
This striking mixed-media work explores the paradox of self-awareness, using intricate layering and symbolic abstraction to depict consciousness as both observer and observed. The fragmented yet cohesive form of the central figure—composed of shifting eyes, circuitry-like patterns, and cosmic motifs—suggests a mind in contemplation, mirroring the quantum duality of matter existing as both particle and wave.
The title, The Resting Electron (Just Matter Contemplating Itself), reinforces this existential and scientific inquiry. The electron, a fundamental particle, is rarely at rest, much like the mind that seeks to understand itself within the vast, unknowable fabric of reality. This piece questions the nature of being: if thought itself arises from mere matter, is our sense of self nothing more than an emergent property of the universe reflecting upon itself? Through layered textures, cryptic symbols, and a dreamlike composition, the painting embodies this profound self-referential loop—where perception, energy, and existence become indistinguishable.
