Meanings shift and change with my work, but...
This visually dynamic piece embodies the instability and impermanence of existence, both on a quantum level and within the broader human experience. Fragmented yet intricately interconnected forms emerge from a chaotic yet deliberate composition, evoking the unpredictable nature of matter as it constantly shifts, disassembles, and reassembles. The use of overlapping faces, eyes, and organic structures suggests an evolving identity—one that is never static, much like the atomic fabric of the universe itself.
The title, The Foibles of Matter (Disassembling Atoms and Their Random Reconstructions), speaks to the paradox of structure and entropy. In physics, atoms are ceaselessly in motion, forming and dissolving at imperceptible scales, much like thoughts, emotions, and memories within the human mind. The painting captures this cosmic randomness, where forms seem to build themselves anew in unexpected ways, reflecting the fundamental uncertainty underlying both physical reality and personal transformation.
Through its intricate layering, bold contrasts, and hypnotic patterns, the painting invites the viewer into a world where the boundaries of form and void blur—where existence itself is revealed as a fleeting yet profoundly intricate arrangement of energy and perception.
