Meanings shift and change with my work, but...
This piece pulsates with the tension between order and chaos, mirroring the entropic processes at work within the mind. The fragmented yet interwoven facial features suggest a consciousness in flux, where identity is not fixed but rather a shifting superposition of possible states. The eyes, scattered and layered across the composition, function as both observers and observed, reinforcing the idea that perception is unstable and multidimensional.
The title references the entropic brain hypothesis, which proposes that higher entropy states in neural activity correlate with expanded, unconstrained modes of cognition—often associated with creativity, altered states, or even madness. The jagged, crystalline horn-like structures emerging from the head evoke a crown of electrical impulses or a neural network flickering between coherence and dissolution. The swirling background, dense with symbols and cryptic scripts, amplifies the sense of an encoded reality being processed, decoded, or perhaps slipping beyond grasp. In this portrayal of the mind as a quantum system teetering on the edge of structured thought and chaotic dissolution, the painting visualizes the delicate balance between cognition and entropy.
