Meanings shift and change with my work, but...

This visually intricate mixed-media piece explores the paradox of knowledge and its inevitable encounter with the unknown. The composition is teeming with layered forms, overlapping eyes, and chaotic yet highly intentional patterns, creating a sense of fluid motion—like waves of thought breaking upon the shores of understanding. The dominant figure, an abstracted hybrid of animalistic and humanoid elements, seems to be both emerging from and dissolving into a surrounding environment filled with cryptic symbols and swirling energy.

The title, On Repeat (The Knowledge Expands Into a Sea of Ignorance), speaks to the infinite loop of learning, where every new discovery only reveals the vastness of what remains unknown. The more we seek, the deeper the abyss of uncertainty becomes. This is reflected in the painting’s densely packed details—each intricate form leading to another, an endless cycle of perception and reinterpretation. The eyes, scattered throughout the composition, suggest an awareness that is constantly shifting, unable to settle on a single definitive truth.

The watery, undulating patterns at the base of the piece evoke an oceanic depth, symbolizing the vastness of ignorance that knowledge inevitably feeds into. The jagged, horned structures at the top suggest a struggle—a grappling with the limits of understanding, where expansion is both exhilarating and overwhelming. The surreal, dreamlike interactions between the figures imply that thought itself is organic, evolving, and sometimes recursive, always looping back upon itself in the search for meaning.

This work presents an existential meditation on the pursuit of wisdom. As we learn, we do not reach an endpoint but instead encounter a new horizon of questions, an ever-expanding paradox where certainty dissolves into ambiguity. The piece challenges the viewer: if knowledge is always on repeat, endlessly cycling into greater ignorance, does understanding truly exist—or is it merely an illusion we chase?
