Meanings shift and change with my work, but...

This striking mixed-media work is charged with an electric tension, both visually and thematically. The composition crackles with energy—figures stretch, contort, and reach toward each other in an intricate, almost ritualistic exchange. Their elongated, insect-like limbs and hybrid forms suggest both connection and conflict, as if they are engaged in an unseen, high-stakes negotiation. The intricate patterns, layered textures, and embedded symbols create a sense of encrypted meaning, as if reality itself is encoded within the piece.

The title, Hiding High Voltage, suggests a paradox—electricity, power, energy—all forces that typically demand movement, exposure, and reaction, are somehow being concealed. This could reference the idea of suppressed power, unseen potential, or charged emotions kept beneath the surface. The figures in the piece embody this duality—while they appear to be interacting, there is an underlying restraint, a sense that something powerful is being held back or hidden within the chaotic yet precise linework.

The glowing eyes and multiple layers of observation suggest heightened awareness, as if the beings depicted are hyper-sensitive to their surroundings. The repeated geometric and circuit-like symbols scattered throughout the piece reinforce the concept of energy flow—perhaps hinting at neural connections, electric impulses, or the unseen forces that govern existence itself. The swirling, almost fluid background texture evokes an atmosphere of unseen currents, like an invisible charge humming beneath the visible scene.

A central element of the piece is the interaction between the figures—one appears to extend a clawed or mechanical-like appendage toward the other, creating an exchange of energy or control. Is this a struggle, a transmission of knowledge, or the concealment of something too powerful to be revealed? The jagged, almost vibrating edges of their forms mirror the unpredictability of electricity—something that can spark, burn, or illuminate, depending on how it is directed.

At its core, Hiding High Voltage is a meditation on potential energy—whether emotional, intellectual, or even cosmic. It invites the viewer to consider: what power do we suppress? What unseen forces shape our interactions? And what happens when the concealed voltage finally surges into the open? The painting does not offer a single answer but rather immerses the viewer in the charged tension of what is just beneath the surface, waiting to be unleashed.
